Preparation For UKMPPD

Exam 1 of UKMPPD: Tips for Planning

This is the test submitted by a UKMPPD taker taking UKMPPD Stage 1 experience. You can read the stories of other UKMPPD takers HERE.

I had to study for my UKMPPD exam for 2 months. I had taken my Phase 2 exam already and had a good score. The score in the second exam is typically higher than that of the first exam because by then, candidates have mastered the tricks of better test-taking. This does not mean, however, that you write Step 2 first. Between 9 a.m., I studied Uh, and 11 p.m. I began training at 8 a.m. in the final month prior to the exam. For better results, I prefer studying in the mornings.

Utilized resources:

For all subjects except pathology and microbiology, Kaplan videos

Pathoma videos with notes: This is a resource with a very high yield.

Question banks for UWorld (Try Rx instead of Kaplan if you want to try other question banks.)

toukmppd.com for daily training

Tips on Preparation:

Pathology:  This subject is focused on about half of the exam, so research it well.

Listen to the Pathoma lectures and add your comments to them, which should take a week.

In the next 2 days, revise the content.

Next, in First Aid, study the pathology section.

Try to consolidate your learning with all the UWorld issues.

Do use Goljan 's pictures and high-yield lines.

Look at the Pathoma images a week before the examination.

Practice UWorld diagnostic questions as they are identical to those that occur in the exam.

Pharmacologics:

I've been studying from First Aid and UWorld.

The first 2 units from Kaplan were also tested by me.

At bedtime, a smart plan is to learn 10 details and revisit them the next day.

Immunology: Immunology:

Advanced medicine and immune therapy processes are the most studied topics.

I listened for 3-4 days to Kaplan 's lectures. Research First Aid and then pursue online UWorld questions.

You can scan for questions about particular topics at UWorld. For instance, signaling mechanism. These questions are high-yield ones.

First Aid, with high-yield content, has two pages on immunology.

Biochemistry: Biochemistry:

Listen to the lectures given by Dr. Turco and do not ignore this subject.

For this subject, I studied Kaplan.

Clinically-oriented questions are typically asked about this subject.

I first listened to the lectures of Dr. Turco for Genetics, then tried questions from Kaplan's question bank, and finally tried UWorld twice.

Anatomy: -Anatomy:

I started by listening to lectures by Kaplan, especially on neuroanatomy.

I checked the Shelf Notes of Anatomy two days before the test in 5 hours. I got a question for the test from that.

I memorized the anatomy of UWorld, and then researched Kaplan.

Neurology and nerve lesions, arteries, muscle activity, photographs from UWorld and Shelf notes can help to learn the material in this series.

Study all of the gross neurology photos a week before the exam.

Biostatistics: Biostatistics

Start out by listening to Steve Daugherty 's lectures. You may not grasp them for the first time, but you must persevere.

For 70 questions, Attempt Rx question bank, UWorld Move 1 and UWorld special subscription. You can also carry out Phase 2 questions if you have the time.

There are also high-yielding NBME biostatistics issues.

Microbiology:

I've been researching First Aid and trying out UWorld issues.

The ukmppd Phase 1 review has recently started to evaluate topics such as fungal ecology, mechanism of resistance, virology, and parasites.

Physiology:

I started by listening to Kaplan 's lectures and focusing on cardio, renal, and respo.

Questions on endocrinology and cardiology can be in the form of graphs or arrow symbols. From UWorld and First Aid, learn these facts.

Check the anatomical images and graphs of menstruation.

For neurophysiology, First Aid and UWorld are both best.

Science of Psychiatry and Behavior:

Behavioral science from BRS will assist you through all the steps of the Try Out UKMPPD

Next, study First Aid and try UWorld questions.

Solve Conrad Fischer's 100 Cases.

I checked the following items one month ahead of the exam:

Behavioral science from BRS

NBME-last 4 exams

UWSA-1 as well as UWSA-2

Questions at UWorld

UWorld biostatistics, UWorld special review, Rxx

Anatomy Notes from the Shelf

Two weeks before your exam, take the NBME-17 or NBME-18 practice examination. It will make you feel refreshed by walking and jogging.

I checked all my high-yield notes one week ahead of the exam. Find and research a list of forgettable Phase 1 exam topics. Look for a list of 150 high-yield UKMPPD cases and review them. Study UWorld's pictures and tables.

Test Day's tips:

Questions of all levels of difficulty are asked-easy, moderate and challenging.

Do not waste time finding the answers to the hard questions. In the end, you should re-attempt them.

You can take brief breaks in the beginning. Later, longer ones can be taken.

To minimize the time needed for security measures, wear a shirt without pockets.

Throughout the test, remain optimistic.

Stop panicking because your output can be influenced during the block.
